Household care and janitorial cleaners

Our extensive product line features solvents that are excellent for home or office cleaners and gentle on the planet. We offer solutions that are readily biodegradable, non-HAP and VOC exempt to meet LVP-VOC requirements while providing excellent coupling efficiency to bind and dissolve soils for removal.

Extend shelf life

Household and janitorial cleaning products that are water based or contain ingredients that serve as a carbon source are susceptible to microbial growth. Eastman Probenz™ sodium benzoate is a preservative that can extend the shelf life of these cleaning formulations. Sodium benzoate is categorized as a preservative of “low concern” on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Safer Chemical Ingredients List. It can be used as an alternative to preservatives under pressure from regulatory or consumer groups.

Clean surfaces

Maintain surface appearance and hygiene in homes, businesses and institutions. Glycol ethers like Eastman EB and DB solvents enhance cleaning performance in water-based systems across a wide pH range. These solvents help formulators manage cleaner volatility and contact time, effectively reducing surface tension to improve wetting and soil removal.

Eastman DIMLA transforms into powerful, grease-cutting alkyl amine oxides and alkyl betaines as well as disinfecting quaternary ammonium compounds. They work synergistically with anionic surfactants and can be formulated across a wide pH range, ensuring compatibility in most home care products.

Liquid dish and hand soaps

Consumers want powerful yet gentle dish and hand soaps. Eastman DMAPA is an important raw material used in the manufacture of surfactants like betaines that tackle tough grease while being kind to the skin. These surfactants enhance dish liquids, making them cling better to surfaces, and stabilize foam, even in oily or hard-water conditions. With skin-friendly properties, betaines help reduce irritation. They also boost foam density and stability, especially in hard water. Due to its high-foaming, mild nature, DMAPA is used in the preparation of cocamidopropyl betaine (CAPB) — a key ingredient in body wash, shampoo and liquid hand soap formulations. CAPB complements the performance of primary surfactants like sodium lauryl sulfate and sodium laureth sulfate.

Fabric care

From bedding and towels to upholstery and carpet, home fabrics deserve special care. Our ingredients can help improve the performance of formulations that clean and protect textiles.

Our amine intermediates like Amietol™ M12 (MDEA) and MDIPA are used to make cationic surfactants used in fabric softeners. They help deliver fragrance and a soft feel to fabrics while reducing static. By reducing friction between fabrics during tumbling, they may also extend garment life.

Industrial cleaners

Eastman solvents are used in a variety of cleaners for industrial use. This includes cleaners for industrial facilities and equipment as well as for aerospace and automotive applications.

Industrial processes

Many processes in industrial fabrication of metal parts, electronic circuit boards and medical equipment require cleaning during assembly. Solvent cleaners dry quickly without leaving residues. We offer a wide range of solvents for industrial cleaning in pure or blended formulations for suitable for aerosol cans, dip tanks or wipes.

Our water-miscible glycol ether solvents work well in aqueous cleaners like degreasers, aluminum cleaners, rust removers, gasket strippers, paint strippers and concrete cleaners. TamiSolve NxG serves as a safer alternative to N-methylpyrrolidone (NMP), enhancing cleaning formulations for molds and tools for polyurethane, polymers and resins. It is also used in adhesive manufacturing and for cleaning printing presses and equipment in the ink industry.

Aerospace

Military and commercial aircraft coating processes require clean surfaces. Hand-wipe cleaners effectively remove contaminants like soil, oils, seam sealers and adhesives, but many solvents are now subject to environmental regulations. We offer methyl propyl ketone (MPK) and MPK ultra high purity (UHP) as environmentally friendly alternatives that meet aerospace cleaning standards and the U.S. EPA National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP) requirements. These solvents are ideal for cleaning paint gun equipment, with MPK’s slower evaporation extending wipe usability compared to MEK.

We also offer SkyKleen, a new-generation aviation solvent that combines excellent cleaning performance with environmentally friendly characteristics. From parts cleaning to surface prep, SkyKleen is effective and economical.

Automotive

Eastman oxygenated solvents provide excellent performance in a variety of cleaning formulations for automotive applications. Whether choosing from glycol ethers, ketones or esters, Eastman solvents deliver cleaning efficacy in a variety of automotive cleaners. TamiSolve NxG serves as a fuel additive component that contributes to the effective cleaning of injectors and carburetors.
