Acidulants and preservatives

Acidulants and preservatives have distinct roles in food products. Products like acetic, butyric and propionic acid serve as acidulants that add acidity, enhance flavors, improve shelf life and act as pH regulators. They balance and enhance the taste of beverages while also inhibiting microbial growth for food safety and preservation. Additionally, acetic anhydride and Eastman Probenz™ sodium benzoate are used in various formulations to further support these functions, contributing to the overall effectiveness of food preservation and quality.

Antioxidants

Antioxidants stabilize various fats, oils and food against oxidative deterioration. These additives extend product shelf life.

Eastman Tenox™ food grade, kosher products are available in solid form and easy to-use formulations that contain various combinations of antioxidants.

Beverage flavor weighting agents

Eastman Sustane™ SAIB, food grade, kosher has been approved for use as a stabilizer for flavoring oil emulsions. It can also be used as a weighting agent designed for formulators who need improved handling traits, enhanced cloud properties and taste neutrality in beverages. Food grade Sustane SAIB may also be used as a stabilizer or clouding agent in beverages like citrus-flavored drinks in Canada, the EU and the U.S.
