Being in food storage containers might make these mice the luckiest on earth. But who would be happy to see mice in their food jars? The “mice” in question are not living, breathing creatures but are instead formed as part of the lid to Qualy’s Lucky Mouse Storage Jars.
Global specialty plastics provider Eastman has joined with the Thai-based brand Qualy to create food storage jars made with Eastman Tritan™ copolyester, a crystal clear and durable polymer that is also BPA-free and shatter-resistant. Inspired by a classic Thai idiom, the mice actually act as valves that make an airtight seal with their chubby tummies to keep odors out.
Launched in July 2020, the Lucky Mouse Storage Jars come in three sizes: 0.6 L, 1.2 L, and 2 L. The lids making pouring food easy, and when you replace the mouse valve, it looks like the little critter is trying hard to steal your food.
Tritan is approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for food contact applications. Its excellent transparency and resistance to odors and stains focus attention on the contents, making it perfect for storage as well as serving. It’s also BPA free and shatter resistant, so it’s ideal for safe outdoor entertaining, for use by children, or for storing food or candies. Plus, Tritan’s ability to withstand high temperatures and chemical resistance make it safe to put in the dishwasher.
