Water
treatment

Our materials are used to create products that purify water. Additives in flocculants help get residue out of wastewater during treatment. Other coagulants keep liquids cleaner. Our neutralizing amines optimize the boiler water treatment process, and we help companies in the ion exchange and reverse osmosis markets make filters and membranes for purification. For more information on water treatment, visit snf-group.com.

Eastman materials that serve the global water treatment market include intermediates that go into flocculants — particle-clumping products that separate solids from liquids during wastewater treatment. Eastman is one of the leading producers of DMAE and DMAPA. These compounds are used to make cationic monomers, which are intermediates turned into flocculants for industrial and municipal wastewater treatment.

Similarly, we are one of the world’s leading producers of methylamines. DMA is a raw material used in organic coagulants like poly-DADMAC and polyamines. These polymers are used in industrial and municipal water treatment and in the paper and oil/gas industries.

For boiler water treatment, Eastman is a leading producer of:

  • DEAE and DMA2P, which are neutralizing amines that help prevent corrosion in boilers, mitigating damage and fire risk.
  • DEHA, an ingredient used in oxygen-scavenging agents. It removes excess oxygen from boiler water, reducing oxygen-related corrosion.

We also work in the ion-exchange resins and reverse-osmosis membrane markets. Our amines and solvents (e.g., methylamines, DMF and DMAC) are used to make products that soften water, desalinate seawater and otherwise create ultrahigh-purity liquid.
