Premixture of silage additives

AIV® Ässä Na is an advanced formic acid-based product having a broad inhibitory effect on spoilage micro-organisms. Formic acid as the strongest organic acid enables formation of the undissociated form of propionic acid and together with potassium sorbate, has a strong inhibitory effect on yeast and molds.

AIV Ässä Na can be used for all types of harvesting conditions of silage and crimping especially with higher dry matter content. In those conditions, air can penetrate deeper in the clamp enabling growth of aerobic spoilage micro-organisms which results in heating of the stored feed. By controlling the growth of yeast and moulds, AIV Ässä Na prevents effectively heating of silage and crimped grain after silo opening. This maintains the nutritional quality of the feed.

When applied during the grass ensiling process, AIV Ässä Na restricts the fermentation which results in a reduced amount of both fermentation acids and ethanol. In a trial, this was also reflected in the sugar concentration (water soluble carbohydrates) being as high in the silage as in the grass prior to ensiling. AIV Ässä Na treated silage had the lowest yeast count compared to other silages.

Preservative

AIV Ässä Na is an advanced formic acid-based product having broad inhibitory effect on spoilage micro-organisms.
