Modern packaging formulations are expected to deliver stunning colors, high print throughput, flawless finishes, and durable graphics, all while protecting the safety of end-users. Eastman Solus™ 1100 ES-65 performance additive is designed to deliver on the high performance expectations required of ink and metal packaging formulations. The robust properties of this distinctive material provide reduced surface tack, improved flow, and good UV stability.

This cellulose ester enables lower solution viscosities with the lowest glass transition temperature (Tg) in the cellulose acetate butyrate portfolio. The relatively low molecular weight (M(n)) of Solus™ 1100 ES-65 (as compared to other cellulose esters) supports compatibility with other formulation components, including a wide range of cross-linking resins and curing resin systems. Solus™ 1100 ES-65 is available in pellet form.

Eastman Solus™ 1100 ES-65 is based on cellulose, one of Earth's most abundant natural renewable resources, with an approximate calculated bio-content value of 37%. Further, this product has at least 65% sustainable content, resulting from a combination of bio-content from natural cellulose plus recycled content (recycled content based on mass balance allocation) from plastic waste. Recycled content is certified by International Sustainability & Carbon Certification (ISCC), a global, independent agency tracking sustainable content in a variety of industries. These materials enable formulators to embrace plastic recycling, achieve sustainability targets without compromise, and be a fast mover in a growing market for sustainable products.

For applications that require food contact compliance, please refer to Eastman Solus™ 1100 ES-65, Food Contact and discuss requirements with your Eastman technical representative.
