Cutlery

Disposable cutlery made with Eastman Aventa™ compostable materials leaves no trace behind when disposed of, helping reduce needless waste.

Cutlery made with Aventa performs like traditional plastics, is home and industrial compostable, is made with materials that are certified biodegradable in soil and fresh water, and will not remain as microplastics.

Items made with Aventa Renew feature another level of sustainability — they’re made from certified recycled content using ISCC mass balance allocation.

Key benefits

Aventa products are made from cellulose taken from responsibly sourced wood pulp. When combined with vinegar, this forms cellulose acetate pellets used to make cutlery that can be composted instead of sent to landfills, helping to reduce plastic waste.

This cutlery performs better than most alternative sustainable products because it is stronger. Aventa products are made with uncompromising durability, a premium look, and versatility for use in bulk formats, cutlery kits, and dispensers. This allows brands and users to set a new sustainability standard without sacrificing quality.

Products made with Aventa Renew also contain hard-to-dispose-of plastic waste. This plastic is broken down and combined with wood pulp to create cellulose acetate. Renew products are the only compostable material that contain both biobased and certified recycled content. Articles made with Aventa are certified home and industrial compostable while also being suitable for anaerobic digesters.

Cutlery made with Aventa has U.S. FDA clearance for food contact use. It is both hot and cold food friendly because it maintains strength and shape at temperatures up to 190°F.

Composts sustainably

Aventa Renew-based cutlery can be composted in industrial or home settings. Users can dispose of these items in any container labeled for composting. Aventa is certified soil and freshwater biodegradable, so after use, it breaks down completely, enriching the soil and completing a regenerative, circular life cycle.
