Performance infill is commonly made with polymeric-based material. It leaves behind potentially harmful chemicals such as microplastics that can get carried off the pitch and into the ground and water supply. This prompted the European Commission to propose a ban on polymeric infill.
Eastman has a safer replacement ready with Solus™ performance additives. Solus™ can be used in a coating which is then used as performance infill. This creates a biodegradable performance infill made with renewable feedstock that is free of harmful chemicals. Solus™ helps create a turf that requires less upkeep than those using other organic infills and meets FIFA player safety and performance requirements.
The result is turf that reduces maintenance cost and environmental impact. That’s solid ground for anyone who makes or uses turf.
Eastman is a member of ESTC, the trade association for the synthetic turf industry in the EMEA region.
Artificial turf infill manufacturers and system sellers can improve their sustainability game with Solus™ performance additives.
