As a global company, Eastman has technology centers worldwide to provide innovative solutions and quality service to our customers. Our labs in Thane, India; Kingsport, Tennessee; Ghent, Belgium; and Shanghai, China, focus on collaboration, addressing challenges to drive innovation and link emerging technology to sustainable, viable applications. This approach helps us work toward our ultimate goal: enhancing the quality of life in a material way.

European Technology Center

Established in 2018 in Ghent, our lab specializes in automotive, industrial, decorative and can coatings, as well as adhesives. Situated on Ghent University’s technology campus, we work closely with the university to enhance our capabilities.

With over 100 state-of-the-art tools, we offer starting formulations and demos to help customers innovate and evaluate efficiently. We also collaborate with regional distribution partners and top metal suppliers to address future regulatory impacts, with past projects including emission testing with VITO Belgium.

Shanghai Technology Center

Located in Shanghai, the China Technology Center specializes in application development for coatings and inks, specializing in automotive, industrial, packaging, decorative and emerging technologies.

We offer comprehensive application and testing capabilities, including OEM semi-tech applications, flexible package inks and metal paste screenings. We provide formulation recommendations based on extensive internal testing that are widely accepted by downstream customers. Additionally, we offer unique vacuum metallization capability.

Kingsport Technology Center

Established in 2018 in Kingsport, this lab specializes in formulations and testing for metal packaging, powder and industrial coatings. Equipped with advanced facilities, we deliver credible technical results, aiding both multinational and smaller companies in accelerating research and gaining formulation expertise.

Our unique methodologies and global recognition in metal packaging trends support the food and beverage industry by replacing materials of concern with sustainable alternatives, contributing to the circular economy.

Indian Technology Center

Located in Thane, Maharashtra, the Eastman India Technology Center opened in January 2023. We specialize in technical services for coatings and inks, specialty fluids and advanced interlayers, focusing on region-specific solutions.

Our lab has tested over 2,700 specialty fluid samples, offering standardized methods and predictive outcomes. We provide comprehensive testing, including coatings formulation, application and parameter testing on various substrates, and formulated samples for customer testing to enhance project success rates.
